"Let them eat cake" is a phrase traditionally attributed to Marie Antoinette, Queen of France during the French Revolution. It is sometimes used to illustrate the disconnect between the wealthy and the struggles of the poor. It suggests a callous disregard for the plight of the poor, as it implies that if peasants had no bread, they should simply eat cake instead. (Hint: If they didn't have bread, they certainly didn't have cake!)
Some might say there's a parallel between the French Aristocracy (the wealthy class) and the Ohio Aristocracy (our elected elite). Our legislature seems to have no empathy and is unable to relate to regular working people or retirees who struggle to be able to pay their ever-increasing property taxes. These citizens are sometimes told if they can't pay, they should "just move". This happens even to people who have paid off homes and are living on a small fixed incomes that don't increase at nearly the pace of the increasing property taxes.
In such situations, the "homeowner" NEVER really owns their home. It is, in essence, being "rented" from the government. We find this to be morally repugnant.
